Bureau of Meteorology R&D Workshop 2018

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology will hold it’s 2018 Research and Development Workshop, 26-30 November, at the Bureau’s Melbourne Office, 700 Collins St. Now in its 30th year, the annual R&D Workshop brings together international experts and Australian research scientists from the Bureau, CSIRO, Australian universities, and other research organisations.
The 2018 R&D Workshop’s focus is on ensemble modelling, including:
- Weather Prediction Modelling
- Weather Forecasting Applications
- Ensembles for Bureau National Forecast Services and National Business Sectors
- Ocean and Storm Surge Modelling
- Seasonal Forecasting
- Climate and Water Projections
- High Performance Computing
The 5-day workshop program includes a number of keynote addresses from prominent international experts along with presentations from national research scientists and those working within the themes of the above topics. The fifth day will be dedicated to special seminars from international speakers, providing scope for expansion on the R&D Workshop topics or to discuss other topics of interest. International guest speakers will represent institutions such as the ECMWF, the UK Met. Office, Oxford University (UK) and the Norwegian Met Office.
